Former Parkview girls soccer coach Todd Yelton, now the head women's coach at Samford University, was named the Southern Conference coach of the year on Tuesday.
Yelton, the winningest coach in Samford history, coached the Bulldogs to a 9-0-2 SoCon record during the regular season, allowing only five goals in 11 matches. He also earned coach of the year honors in 2003 and 2005 in the Ohio Valley Conference.
Yelton led Parkview to high school state championships in 1997 and 1999.
