Peachtree Ridge’s Jared Walsh earned player of the year honors and Mill Creek’s Brian Stillwell was pitcher of the year on the All-Region 7-AAAAA baseball team voted on by the region’s coaches.
Coach of the year honors went to Mill Creek’s Doug Jones and Duluth’s Matt Champitto. Chip Fleming of Mill Creek, John Clark of Duluth and Trey Marksberry of Collins Hill were the all-region pitchers. The all-region position players were Peachtree Ridge’s Billy Best, Mountain View’s Alex Brock, Norcross’ Tanner Maloof and William Paschal, Mill Creek’s Connor Kasten, Devin Bonin, Chandler Boyd and Jerad Curry, North Gwinnett’s Seth Bancroft, Alex Kimble and Connor Jenkins, Collins Hill’s Brandon McKeen and Duluth’s Evan Dumas. Hebron’s Hillyer, Providence’s Stewart named best in region Hebron Christian’s Jordan Hillyer was the Region 8-A player of the year, while Providence Christian’s Christin Stewart was the 5-A player of the year in awards voted on by those regions’ coaches. Providence’s Glen Williamson also earned a top award as the 5-A pitcher of the year. The Stars also had first-team selections Austin Loyd, Austin Smith and Nick Stidham, as well as Alan Skinner, a second-team position player and first-team pitcher. Steven Slaughter also made the list as a second-team pitcher. Wesleyan had first-teamers Jamie Stark, Drew Widner and Alex Thykeson on the 5-A team along with second-teamers Jeremy Shirley, Gardner Heaner and Mason Colquitt. In addition to Hillyer’s honor, Hebron had Danny Lockhart, Christian Davila, Kevin Burgee and Mason Felt on the 8-A first team.More like this story
