Eastside to hold free stroke screenings

SNELLVILLE — A part of National Stroke Awareness Month, Eastside Medical Center will be conducting free screenings on Friday.

Eastside stroke coordinator Mary Hudgins will host the stroke risk assessments from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Kroger located at 1670 Scenic Highway in Snellville.

Since diabetes is a significant risk factor for stroke, free blood glucose checks will also be offered by Patricia Lincoln, the coordinator of Eastside’s diabetes program. According to the American Diabetes Association, most people with diabetes have risk factors like high blood pressures that increase their risk for heart disease and stroke.
