BLAINE, Minn. — The Silverbacks were handed their fourth loss of the season Saturday, this one a 3-0 defeat at Minnesota.
The Stars jumped on top in the 17th minute. Jeff Crosgriff headed a cross from Neil Hlavaty into the net past Atlanta keeper Feiipe Quintero for the 1-0 advantage. Hlavaty put Minnesota (1-1-3, 6 points) up 2-0 by converting a penalty kick in the 56th minute after Ely Allen was taken down in the box. Lucas Rodriguez added the third goal in the 66th minute with a low shot past Quintero. Atlanta (0-4-1, 1 point) came close to scoring twice in the second half. Emsad Zahirovic had a shot saved by Stars goalkeeper Joe Warren, and Raphael Cox hit the post just before the final whistle.More like this story
