NORCROSS -- Residents can get a little of that Peachtree Corners spirit in an upcoming street festival -- the first of its kind for the community that may soon become a city.

The event is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. June 11 on the shady tree-lined street named "The Corners Parkway," a press release said.

Expected to draw more than 5,000 people, the event is family friendly and will include activities for children, a juried arts and craft show, live music, a car show and lots of food.

"It will give the community an opportunity to showcase the many wonderful restaurants, artists and talents that make Peachtree Corners unique," the press release said.

Last week, Gov. Nathan Deal signed a bill to place cityhood on the ballot for the 34,000 residents of the western Gwinnett community. With a vote set for November, one booth at the street festival will be dedicated to information about the issue.
