NORCROSS -- A man who unsuccessfully attempted to rob a Norcross bank Thursday morning wasted no time trying again, hitting a bank in Tucker less than an hour later, officials said.

The suspect -- who has not been identified or taken into custody -- entered the Bank of America branch at 5125 Oakbrook Parkway just before 10 a.m. Thursday, passing a teller a note demanding money, Gwinnett County police spokesman Cpl. Jake Smith said.

Because that particular branch has bulletproof glass surrounding the tellers, they simply ducked below the counters and called police, Smith said.

The suspect, an older white male wearing glasses, left the bank. He never presented a weapon, Smith said.

At about 10:40 a.m., time stamped photos put the same man, having changed his shirt, at a bank in Tucker in DeKalb County, where he passed another note and made out with "some" money, officials said.

A vehicle description was not obtained from the attempted Gwinnett robbery, Smith said, but witnesses at the Tucker scene described the suspect's getaway vehicle as a light colored, 1990s Jeep Cherokee.

Anyone with information is asked to call Gwinnett police at 770-513-5300.
