Pawtucket, R.I. — The Gwinnett Braves defeated the Pawtucket Red Sox 5-1 at McCoy Stadium on Tuesday night.
Mike Minor (2-0) was stellar for the Braves and earned his second victory. With the win, the Gwinnett Braves (17-14) remain in second place in the International League South division. In the top of the eighth inning, with two runners on, Mauro Gomez extended his five-game hitting streak with a two RBI double to put the G-Braves on top 4-1. Minor was effective on the night in earning his second win of the season. He threw seven innings, allowing four, and one run on a solo HR, three walks and struck out eight. Juan Abreu replaced Minor in the eighth and shut it down for the G-Braves. Two G-Braves extended their hitting streaks to five games on Tuesday night, Gomez finished the night going 1-for-4 with a double and two RBIs, while Stefan Gartrell went 1-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Wilkin Ramirez also had a good night at the plate after hitting a homer the night before. The Gwinnett Braves continue their series vs. the Pawtucket Red Sox tonight at McCoy Stadium at 6:15 p.m. The G-Braves will send out Rodrigo Lopez (4-0, 2.11) vs. Kyle Weiland (2-3, 4.34) for the Paw Sox.More like this story
