SNELLVILLE — Eastside Medical Center is inviting the public to “test drive” its newest technology.
The hospital will host an open house on May 18 to allow individuals to experience first-hand the da Vinci surgical system, a robotic surgery training technology that was the first in the Atlanta area to acquire.
From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Eastside’s visitor lobby, those interested will be able to “move the unit’s arms, play with the instruments and experience what surgeons see and feel when they use the robot to operate,” hospital spokeswoman Pattie Page said.
“We are excited about this state-of-the-art technology and want to share it with the community,” CEO Kim Ryan said. “The da Vinci robotic system actually enhances the surgeon’s skill with computer technology, enabling them to see vital anatomical structures more clearly and perform surgical procedures more precisely.”
