PAWTUCKET, Mass. — Jacob Thompson never found his control, lasting just 1⁄3 of an inning and giving up five runs off four walks to put the Gwinnett Braves in a hole they couldn’t dig out of.
In a 9-2 loss to Pawtucket, Jose Lugo pitched well in an unexpected relief performance, allowing one run off three hits in 42⁄3 innings. The G-Braves stranded eight runners in the loss, spoiling a three-hit night for Mauro Gomez who upped his average to .393.
Scott Proctor and Jairo Asencio pitched perfect innings in relief.
Pawtucket’s Drew Sutton hit two home runs on a 3-for-4, three RBI night.
