ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Gwinnett Braves ended a four-game losing streak by beating the Rochester Red Wings 6-3 on Saturday night.
The G-Braves scored one run in the eighth inning and two in the ninth to break a 3-all deadlock. Mauro Gomez drove in Matt Young with a double in the top of the eighth to put the Braves up 4-3. Center fielder Jordan Schafer then delivered a clutch, two-out, two-RBI single in the top of the ninth to seal the win. Gomez had another big night with his third home run in as many games, tying a G-Braves record. He was 2-for-5 with two RBIs and his sixth homer of the season. Lefty Yohan Flande made his first start of the season and pitched a fine game, allowing just one run on three hits in five innings. Jose Lugo gave up two unearned runs in the sixth to allow Rochester to tie the game. Juan Abreu (1-0) worked 21⁄3 innings with one strikeout and picked up the win.
