A North Carolina man was sentenced Friday to 10 years in federal prison for setting up what he believed to be a group sex encounter with children at a motel near the Mall of Georgia.
According to officials, 27-year-old Christopher Carroll responded in October to an online posting from an undercover FBI agent posing as a father who was sexually active with his sons.
Over the course of dozens of emails and several phone calls, Carroll bragged of molesting his 5-month-old nephew and filming sexual encounters with minors. He and the undercover agent ultimately set up a rendezvous in Buford, during which Carroll would engage in sexual acts with what he believed to be the other man's sons, ages 3 and 12.
Federal agents arrested Carroll, the manager of a Gastonia, N.C., pharmacy, upon his arrival.
Carroll's 10-year prison sentence is to be followed by 15 years of supervised release.
