ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Mauro Gomez hit his fourth home run of the season in the sixth inning, scoring Matt Young and tying the Gwinnett Braves with the Rochester Red Wings at 2-2.
But that was all the offense the G-Braves could muster and Anthony Varvaro took his fourth loss when he allowed the Red Wings to knock in the winning run in the bottom of the ninth in a 3-2 loss. Starter Mike Minor, again, pitched well. Allowing two runs off six hits in seven innings. The left-hander struck out six. But in a familiar story, Gwinnett stranded five, failing to support a strong starting effort.More like this story
