Several events planned for 60th annual National Day of Prayer

LAWRENCEVILLE — People throughout the nation will be joining in prayer today for the 60th annual observance of the National Day of Prayer.

Several events are planned throughout Gwinnett County, including the 11th annual Prayer on the Square in Lawrenceville and gatherings at the Duluth Town Green, Lilburn City Park and Suwanee Town Center Park.

The theme for this year’s event is “A Mighty Fortress Is Our God,” which is based on Psalm 91:2.

“Since the days of our founding fathers, prayer has been an indispensable part of our heritage,” said Michael Calhoun, director of communications for the National Day of Prayer Task Force. “We must remain faithful in our commitment to intercede on behalf of our nation, and its leaders, especially at this challenging time.”
