LOGANVILLE -- Police have cited a Snellville teen who told authorities he feel asleep at the wheel before crashing into a Loganville animal hospital Monday.
Tyon Downing, 17, was driving a 1999 Chevy Malibu toward Snellville on Athens Highway when he swerved across three lanes, shredded some bushes, jumped a curb and struck the side wall of Summit Chase Animal Hospital near Rosebud Road about 5 p.m., according to a Gwinnett police report.
Downing, who complained of an injury to his right arm and bruising to his abdomen, was hospitalized. No other injuries were reported. Police said both the animal hospital and vehicle were heavily damaged.
A responding officer cited Downing for failure to drive within a single lane.
