Gwinnett Daily Post
One final chance to see some of the top local basketball players before they head off for college is planned for Wednesday.
That's when Grayson hosts the fourth annual Gwinnett County Senior All-Star Basketball Game, which will feature 30 girls players and 30 boys players in a night of celebration and fundraising. All of the admission proceeds -- $5 for adults and $3 for children -- will be donated to diabetes research.
The honorary head coaches, as in past years, are former Gwinnett basketball coaches. The girls coaches are Ron Roach and Rick Crowe, previously at Norcross and Dacula, respectively. The boys coaches are Justin Grant, formerly at Dacula, and Phil Bollier, previously the head coach at Mill Creek.
The girls players include Daily Post all-county selections Grace Leah Baughn of Wesleyan, Katie Carroll of Parkview, Dearica Hamby of Norcross, South Gwinnett's Tina Odume and the Brookwood duo of Jazmine Jackson and Katie Mallow.
Players slated for the boys game include Daily Post all-county picks Saah Nimley of Collins Hill, Corey Heyward of Peachtree Ridge, Brandon Hayman of Mill Creek, Cyrus Lavant of North Gwinnett, Thomas Higginbotham of Brookwood and the Norcross trio of Josiah Moore, E. Victor Nickerson and Alonzo Nelson-Ododa.
The girls game tips off at 6 p.m., followed by the boys game at approximately 7:30.
