PREP ROUNDUP: Mill Creek girls hold off Norcross

NORCROSS -- Mill Creek's girls tennis team stayed unbeaten in Region 7-AAAAA after holding off Norcross 3-2 on Thursday.

Nela Handac and Allison Weaver won the No. 1 doubles match for the Hawks (14-1, 4-0). Caliey Stevens and Lauren Atkinson won at No. 2 doubles, while Michelle Yau won at No. 2 singles.

GIRLS TENNIS

Peachtree Ridge 5, Meadowcreek 0

DULUTH -- Peachtree Ridge extended its season-long winning streak to six with a 5-0 win over Meadowcreek on Thursday. Jessica Northcutt, Laura Greenwood and Rachel Anderson handled the singles matches for the Lions (6-0, 5-0). Mary Jeremiah and Charlotte Greenwood won at No. 1 doubles. Jennifer Duke and Kelly Arsenault earned the point at No. 2 doubles.

Buford 5, West Hall 0

OAKWOOD -- Buford swept West Hall 5-0 on Thursday. Kelly Cohron, Jancy Burge and Kathryn Bradshaw won the singles matches for the Wolves (9-6). Cortland West and Michelle Hanley, and Abby Hundley and Jessica Thompson won the doubles matches.

Brookwood 5, Dacula 0

DACULA -- Brookwood shut out Dacula 5-0 on Thursday. Leah Pridgeon, Liz Slaughter and Molly McClintock won singles matches for the Broncos (9-4, 7-0). Emily Gray and Sheridan Schuster took care of the No. 1 doubles match, while Rebecca Norton and Katie Kraft won the No. 2 doubles match.

North 5, Mountain View 0

SUWANEE -- North Gwinnett moved past Mountain View 5-0 on Thursday. Shannon Bettiol, Taylor Clark and Morgan Willoughby handled the singles matches for the Bulldogs (11-5, 2-3). Chelsea Koch and Isabel Balsavage won their doubles match, as did the other pair of Tyler Carroll and Madison Bolden.

Archer 5, South 0

LAWRENCEVILLE -- Archer swept South Gwinnett 5-0 on Thursday in Region 8-AAAAA play. Sydnie Madison, Casey Cowens and Kimberly Anderson were singles winners for the Tigers (8-7, 4-3). Lauren Dalton and Kaitlyn Balsamides won at No. 1 doubles, while Morgan McCalla and Harper Emery won the No. 2 doubles match.

Parkview 5, Central 0

LAWRENCEVILLE -- Parkview beat Central Gwinnett 5-0 on Thursday to improve to 5-1 in Region 8-AAAAA. Abbie Nelms, Katie Linton and Kady Linton swept the singles matches for Panthers. Daron Blankenship and Taylor Ballard won at No. 1 doubles. Callie Adams and Kristen Miller won at No. 2 doubles.

Collins Hill 4, Duluth 1

DULUTH -- Collins Hill knocked off Duluth 4-1 on Thursday. Erin Ensley and Ashley Johnston won singles matches for the Eagles (10-3, 2-2). In doubles, Lina Tibavinksky and Megan Gorham won their match, as did the other pair of Maddie and Cassie Owensby.

Peachtree Ridge 5, Meadowcreek 0

DULUTH -- Peachtree Ridge swept Meadowcreek 5-0 on Thursday in Region 7-AAAAA play. Austin Penman, Chandler Burchfield and John-Ellis Haddad won the singles matches for the Lions (4-2, 4-1). Chris Copeland and David Wang won at No. 1 doubles, while Edward Lee and Jay Sills earned the point at No. 2 doubles.

Brookwood 5, Dacula 0

DACULA -- Brookwood remained unbeaten after a 5-0 win over Dacula on Thursday. Mark Guentert, Will George and David Brown handled the singles matches for the Broncos (13-0). Jody Chan and Rahul Sharma won their doubles match, as did Amarin Montroy and Jake White.

Buford 5, West Hall 0

OAKWOOD -- Buford took care of West Hall 5-0 on Thursday. Singles winners were Colby West, Rob Hunter and Michael Becker. Nicholas Becker and Matthew Gates won at No. 1 doubles for the Wolves (11-4). Skyler Wilson and Alex Turner won at No. 2 doubles.

Collins Hill 4, Duluth 1

DULUTH -- Collins Hill remained unbeaten in Region 7-AAAAA with a 4-1 win over Duluth on Thursday. Chris Clark and Tyler Kallgren won singles matches for the Eagles (11-2, 4-0). Alec Rahmanian and Jake Inderrieden won the No. 1 doubles match. Marcus Maloney and Peyton Rushing also earned a point.

Archer 4, South 1

LAWRENCEVILLE -- Archer beat South Gwinnett 4-1 on Thursday. The Tigers (10-4, 3-4) swept the doubles matches with wins from Josh Heller and Rob Sorensen, and Jordan Wyton and Andrew Joyce. Aaron Harris and Alec Butenko won singles matches.

Keaton Duty won the No. 3 singles match for the Comets.

North 5, Mountain View 0

SUWANEE -- North Gwinnett shut out Mountain View 5-0 on Thursday. Taylor Buchholz, Ryan Duncan and Abhishek Somasundaram won the singles matches for the Bulldogs (4-1). Doubles winners were Jonathan Siris and Josh Winey, plus the other team of Quinn Vining and Avery Balsavage.

Grayson 4, Berkmar 1

LILBURN -- Grayson swept the doubles matches in its 4-1 win over Berkmar on Thursday. Austin Collier and Chase Phillips won at No. 1 doubles, while Bolu Fawole and Jacob Kana won at No. 2 doubles for the Rams (5-9, 3-5). Matt Bolt and Trevor Gobbel won singles matches.

Mill Creek 4, Norcross 1

NORCROSS -- Mill Creek knocked off Norcross 4-1 on Thursday. Nick Hallberg and Brad Adkins won singles matches for the Hawks (5-9, 3-1). Tucker Fleming and Josh Mellott won at No. 1 doubles, while Travis Hanes and Zach Martinez took care of the No. 2 doubles match.

GIRLS GOLF

Mountain View tops Central

WINDER -- Mountain View defeated Central Gwinnett 101-122 on Thursday at The Chimneys course. Kaylee Hennelly shot a 50 for the Bears. Megan Landress had a 59 to lead the Black Knights.

Hebron beats Commerce

DACULA -- Hebron defeated Commerce 88-111 on Thursday at Trophy Club of Apalachee. Darby Gentry shot a 41 to lead the Lions.

BOYS GOLF

Mountain View beats Central

WINDER -- Jake Myers shot 1-over-par to lead Mountain View to a 167-210 on Thursday at The Chimneys course. Myers and Central's Dillon Powell each shot 37.

Hebron knocks off Commerce, Prince Ave.

DACULA -- Hebron defeated Commerce and Prince Avenue in a tri-match Thursday at Trophy Club of Apalachee. The Lions won with a score of 145. Commerce finished with 195, while Prince Avenue had a 231. Phillip Cox shot a 40 to lead Hebron.

Buford holds off Providence

LAWRENCEVILLE -- Buford edged out Providence 172-182 on Thursday at Northwood Country Club. Lucas Thompson and Joey Dando each shot a 41 for the Wolves (4-2).

Hebron 10, Social Circle 0

SOCIAL CIRCLE -- Alexa Allen scored four goals as Hebron beat up on Social Circle 10-0 on Thursday. Sara Boyd added a hat trick for the Lions (11-2-1, 6-0). McKenzie Cowe scored twice and Jordan Lowery had the other goal. Hannah Wilbanks earned the shutout.

Providence 9, King's Ridge 0

LILBURN -- Brooke Kelly scored three goals as Providence beat King's Ridge 9-0 on Thursday. Robyn Lowndes added two goals for the Stars (4-8). Andrew Latimer, Brittany Tuttle, Kat Slayton and Savannah Flynn each scored once. Goalie Jessie Kowalewicz earned the shutout.

BOYS SOCCER

Fellowship Christian 4, Providence 3

ROSWELL -- No. 1 Providence lost to Fellowship Christian 4-3 in a shootout Thursday. The game was suspended before overtime last Friday because of darkness. The Stars (7-3, 5-1) lost 5-4 in six rounds of the shootout.

Hebron 10, Social Circle 0

SOCIAL CIRCLE -- Cole Redman and Josh Manga each had a hat trick in Hebron's 10-0 win over Social Circle on Thursday. Chris Austin, Austin Pinto, Sean McCullough and Ryan Notheis each scored once for the Lions (10-2-2, 5-1). Ryan Thomas added three assists. Goalies John Foley and Tyler Smith combined on the shutout.

GIRLS LACROSSE

Duluth 19, Gainesville 2

GAINESVILLE -- Ajahna Grosvenor scored five goals as Duluth beat Gainesville 19-2 on Thursday. Ali Cole added four goals and three assists for the Wildcats (4-4). Erin Kishoni scored two goals and had three assists. Goalie Paige Falkowski made six saves.

Peachtree Ridge 12, North 4

SUWANEE -- Michelle Fortier scored five goals to lead Peachtree Ridge to a 12-4 win over North Gwinnett on Thursday. Rachel Harper added three assists for the Lions (7-4-1, 3-0). Erin Palanza made 10 saves in goal.

Ashleigh Clark and Lauren Aycock each scored twice for the Bulldogs (5-7).

Grayson 8, Brookwood 3

LOGANVILLE -- Anna LaCavera scored three goals and added an assist as Grayson beat Brookwood 8-3 on Thursday. Lyndsay Parris, Maggie Robins and Margeaux LaCavera each had a goal and an assist for the Rams (3-5). Erica Welty made 13 saves.

Jackie Lastinger, Lauren Clay and Kat Tak each scored once for the Broncos (2-4).

Peachtree Ridge 11, St. Pius X 8

ATLANTA -- Cory Hall scored four goals in Peachtree Ridge's 11-8 win over St. Pius X on Thursday. Michael Ruffcorn added three goals and two assists for the Lions (6-1). Steven Lee had a goal and two assists.

BASEBALL

Meadowcreek 11, Cross Keys 1

NORCROSS -- Shea Wilkey pitched a complete game with seven strikeouts as Meadowcreek beat Cross Keys 11-1 in five innings Thursday. Marnez Ogletree, Chris Custodio and Jose Ponce each went 2-for-3 for the Mustangs (6-8). Cesar Crotes added a double.

Hebron 11, Athens Christian 2

ATHENS -- Hebron hit three homers, including a grand slam from Christian Davila, in an 11-2 win over Athens Christian on Thursday.

Jordan Hillyer and Danny Lockhart each had two hits and a home run. Matt Stethens went 3-for-5 for the Lions (13-1, 8-0). Mason Felt (4-0) gave up two runs in five innings to get the win. He allowed five hits and struck out six.
