Norcross senior Seth Hinsley won the 206- to 225-pound state championship at this past weekend’s State Weightlifting Championships in Hawkinsville.
Hinsley had a bench press of 355, a squat of 520 and a 340 power clean to win his division. His brother Isaiah was fifth in the same weight class for the Blue Devils, who tied for third in the Class AAAAA team standings.
Apalachee’s Alex Camp won state in the 161-170 weight class with lifts of 340 in bench, 500 in squat and 270 in power clean. The Wildcats finished second in AAAA and third overall in the team standings.
Other local placers included Mill Creek’s Tyler Cierski (fourth, 246-and-above), Dacula’s Brian Johnson (second, 191-205), Norcross’ John McWilliams (fourth, 191-205) and Winder-Barrow’s Tyree Tanner (fifth, 191-205). Apalachee got high finishes from F.J. Smith (second, 171-180), Kendall Conover (sixth, 161-170), Cody Boyle (third, 141-150) and Rocksha Audies (fourth, 140-and-below).
