JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Veteran quarterback Aaron Garcia threw for six touchdowns, four to Jeron Harvey as the host Jacksonville Sharks pulled away in the second half for a 71-57 win over the Georgia Force in Arena Football League action late Friday at the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena.
The Force (1-1) had a hard time keeping up with the Sharks (1-1), who scored on seven of eight possessions in the second half.
Georgia tried to rally in the fourth quarter, scoring four times to pull to within 58-50 with 1:14 remaining.
But Jacksonville recovered the ensuing onside kick, and Garcia sealed the game with a 9-yard touchdown pass to Jomo Wilson with 54 seconds to play.
Brett Elliott finished the game 19 of 35 for 266 yards with an interception and six touchdowns for the Force, while Darnell Kennedy completed 11 of 14 passes for 139 yards with an interception and 2 TDs.
Maurice Purify hauled in 14 passes for 166 yards and four scores, while Larry Shipp had eight catches for 118 yards and 3 TDs and C.J. Johnson had seven catches for 117 yards.
