North Gwinnett will host a signing party Thursday at 6 p.m. in the high school’s commons area to honor six senior runners who have signed with college cross country and track programs.

The group includes Matthew Ursprung, an Alabama-Huntsville signee who was a four-year varsity letter winner for the Bulldogs. He finished in the top 15 at the state meet four years in a row. He is the son of Tim and Angela Ursprung.

The signees also feature five girls runners, including teammates Lauren Recchia and Katie Vanover, who will both run for Montevallo (Ala.). North’s Rose Howell signed with Georgia, Courtney Ragan signed with Tampa and Laura Serres signed with Georgia Tech. Those girls led the Bulldogs to a 2009 state title and a 2008 state runner-up finish.

Recchia, a four-year letter winner and a three-time all-county selection, is the daughter of Lee and Maureen Recchia. Vanover, a three-time letter winner, is the daughter of Marc Vanover and Melanie Mize.

Howell, the daughter of Tom and Leslie Howell, was a four-year letter winner and three-time all-county selection, and Ragan, the daughter of Sharon Drake and Randy Ragan, was a four-year letter winner and two-time all-county pick. Serres was a four-time all-county and three-time all-state selection. She is the daughter of Denis and Sylvia Serres.
