ELMIRA, N.Y. — Pat Galivan and Michael Forney scored in a shootout, as the Gwinnett Gladiators snapped a six-game home winning streak for the Elmira Jackals 2-1 Saturday night at First Arena.

A day before Elmira (29-24-8) had ended Gwinnett’s (29-26-7) six-game winning streak by an identical 2-1 score in regulation. The win boosts the Glads into a tie for seventh in the Eastern Conference at 65 points with the Wheeling Nailers.

The Jackals got on the board first courtesy of a Justin Donati shorthanded breakaway goal at 9:39 of the first off an outlet feed from AJ Perry.

Gwinnett answered at 15:37 on the powerplay, as Michael Forney blasted a slapshot past a screened Marco Cousineau to pull the Glads even. Matt Duffy and Pat Galivan picked up the assists on Forney’s 16th of the season.

Gwinnett has a powerplay goal in eight straight games, and the score was tied at one after 20 minutes.

The score stayed at 1-1 all the way through regulation and overtime, giving both teams a point but putting a crucial second point on the table. In the shootout Galivan and Forney beat Cousineau, while Chris Carrozzi stopped all four Jackals he faced to cement a big 2-1 Gwinnett win.

Both goaltenders were sensational. Carrozzi turning away 31 of 32 shots and all four Jackals in the shootout. Cousineau stopped 36 of 37 shots for Elmira.
