Frances "Fran" and "Nanny" Zury Manchester, age 72, of Loganville, Georgia, went to be with Lord and Savior on Friday, March 11, 2011 after a brief illness. She is survived by her devoted husband of 39 years, David Manchester; three children, Peter Manchester of Lawrenceville, GA, Vincent Manchester of Loganville, GA, Monica Manchester of Lawrenceville, GA; five granddaughters, Samantha, Misty, Tiffany, Jessica, and Melissa; daughter-in-law, Michele Espinosa of Lawrenceville, GA; brother, Peter Zury of Macedon, NY; two sisters, Debbie Palo of St. Petersburg, FA, Mary Lou Zaidel of Westchester, OH; two sisters-in-law, Sharon & Steve Holbrook of Henrietta, NY, Diane Manchester of Lawrenceville, GA; brother-in-law, Earl & Linda Manchester of Carey, NC; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of devoted friends. Fran Manchester was born in Rochester, NY on November 22, 1938 to Lucia Privitera Zury and Ralph Victor Zury. She attended Mt. Carmel Catholic grammar school and graduated from Benjamin Franklin High School in Rochester, NY. Fran worked for years in the real estate industry and most recently was associated with Coldwell Banker. Fran's greatest joy in life was being a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to everyone. She was a loyal member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church where she started the first Women's Club. She was devoted to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul and also to her current church family at St. Oliver Plunkett Catholic Church, Snellville, GA. Fran's vision was to establish a shelter for the homeless families in Gwinnett County. Her dream was realized when she was instrumental in the opening of the first shelter when Harbour House opened on Sunday, June 14, 1987 in Lawrenceville. On that day in 1987, then Governor Joe Frank Harris issued a Proclamation to Fran for her dedicated service. This wonderful, kind, gentle lady will be missed by her loving family and many friends. The Mass Celebrating the Life of Fran Manchester will be held Monday, March 14, 2011, at 2:00 P.M. at St. Oliver Plunkett Catholic Church, 3200 Brooks Drive, Snellville, GA 30078 with Rev. Fr. James Henault, M.S. serving as the Celebrant. Interment Gwinnett Memorial Park. The Knights of Columbus will take part in the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, 255 Scenic Hwy., Lawrenceville, GA 30045.
