NORCROSS — The Georgia Department of Transportation will close the Jimmy Carter Boulevard entrance ramp to Interstate 85 northbound on Sunday to repair damage caused by a sinkhole.
The repair is scheduled to take place 7 a.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday. Crews will excavate the area, replace a drainage pipe, fill the cavity and then rebuilt the roadway, according to a news release. The sinkhole, which is about 3 feet long by 5 feet wide by 7 feet deep, was discovered March 1. The road was temporarily repaired with a steel plate covering the sinkhole. Once work begins, the ramp will be closed to traffic. The detour route is Jimmy Carter Boulevard to Oakbrook Parkway to Indian Trail Road to I-85 north. Signs will mark the detour route.More like this story
