LAWRENCEVILLE — Three adults were hospitalized this morning when fire broke out in a Lawrenceville home in the 200 block of Park Place Drive in Lawrenceville.
Three adults living at the home escaped the 4:48 a.m. blaze via a ground-level window. Fire crews found the occupants, two women and a man, in the front yard, and they were transported with smoke-inhalation injuries, said Fire Department spokesman Capt. Thomas Rutledge. “At this time, the injuries are believed to be non-life threatening,” Rutledge said Friday morning. The man told firefighters all three occupants were sleeping in separate bedrooms when they were awakened by a smoke detector, then saw smoke quickly filling the house and fled via a middle bedroom. “This is no doubt a situation where the smoke alarm is credited with alerting the occupants and saving their life,” Rutledge said. The fire spread quickly throughout the house due to windy condition and caused heavy damages. The cause is under investigation, Rutledge said.More like this story
