Prep roundup: Archer tennis slips by Berkmar

 

 

LAWRENCEVILLE — Archer won a pair of singles matches and picked up the clinching match in doubles to edge Bermar 3-2 on Thursday afternoon in boys tennis.

For Archer wins were earned by Aaron Harris and Alex Butenko at singles. Josh Heller and Rob Sorensen won No. 1 doubles for the Tigers to clinch.

Arando Tejada won No. 3 singles, while Anthony Aguilern and Chen Weyou won No. 2 doubles for Berkmar.

BOYS TENNIS

Peachtree Ridge 4, Duluth 1

DULUTH — Peachtree Ridge beat Duluth 4-1 on Thursday.

Alex Makarenko and Jashith Choppara each won singles matches for Peachtree Ridge. Brock Beisel and Jacob Kukler won No. 1 doubles and Austin Pinman and Chris Copeland won No. 2 doubles for the Lions (1-1, 1-0).

Collins Hill 5, Meadowcreek 0

NORCROSS — Collins Hill swept Meadowcreek 5-0 on Thursday.

Singles matches were won by Chris Clark, Tyler Kallgren and Evan Padvorac. Alec Rahmanian and Jake Inderrieden earned a win at No. 1 doubles and Marcus Maloney and Peyton Rusing won No. 2 doubles for the Eagles (7-1, 1-0).

Brookwood 5, Central 0

SNELLVILLE — Brookwood defeated Central Gwinnett 5-0 on Thursday.

Wins in singles were by Randy Phillips, Will George and Rahul Sharma. Matt Jones and Jake Whyte won No. 1 doubles and Jody Chan and Amarin Montroy won No. 2 doubles for Brookwood (8-0).

Parkview 5, Grayson 0

LILBURN — Parkview shut out Grayson 5-0 on Thursday.

Ethan Motz, Luke McDonald and Sunny Tran each won singles matches. Tim Levengood and Patrick Massey earned a point at No. 1 doubles and Hunter Stroud and Jon Benken won No. 2 doubles for Parkview (3-1).

Mill Creek 5, Mountain View 0

HOSCHTON — Lee Mike Turner, Nick Hallberg and Brad Adkins each won singles matches to help Mill Creek sweep Mountain View 5-0 on Thursday.

Tucker Fleming and partner Josh Mellott earned a win at No. 1 doubles, while Travis Hanes and Zach Martinez won No. 2 doubles for Mill Creek (3-7, 1-0).

Wesleyan 4, Providence 1

NORCROSS — Wesleyan took a 4-1 win over Providence on Thursday.

Norman Chang and Jeffrey Chang each earned a point at singles matches. Brooks Prettyman and Ryan McClanahan won No. 1 doubles and Zach Taylor and Palmer Brasher earned a win at No. 2 doubles for Wesleyan (3-3). Emory Williams won No. 2 singles for Providence (2-7).

Collins Hill 5, Meadowcreek 0

NORCROSS — Erin Ensley, Jullian Estes and Abbie Wehr won singles matches to help Collins Hill (8-0, 1-0) beat Meadowcreek 5-0 Thursday.

Doubles matches wins were by Cassie Owensby with Maddie Owensby and Lina Tibavinsky and Megan Gorham.

Brookwood 5, Central 0

SNELLVILLE — Brookwood swept Central Gwinnett 5-0 on Thursday.

Gabbie Griffith, Liz Slaughter and Rebecca Norton each won singles matches. Emily Gay and Sheridan Schuster won No. 1 doubles and Katie Hedlund and Katie Kraft won No. 2 doubles for Brookwood (5-3, 4-0).

Peachtree Ridge 5, Duluth 0

SUWANEE — Peachtree Ridge (2-0) shut out Duluth 5-0 Thursday afternoon.

Jessica Northcutt, Abby Owens and Ali Mills each won singles matches. Doubles were won by sisters Charlotte and Laura Greenwood, and Erin Mills with Jennifer Duke.

Mill Creek 5, Mountain View 0

HOSCHTON — Mill Creek swept Mountain View 5-0 on Thursday.

Kristy Yau, Michelle Yau and Mallory Kolts earned wins at singles matches for Mill Creek (9-1, 1-0). Nela Handac and Allison Weaver won No. 1 doubles and Cailey Stevens and Madison Hahn won No. 2 doubles for the Hawks.

Wesleyan 3, Providence 2

NORCROSS — Sarah Settlage won No. 3 singles to help Wesleyan beat Providence 3-2 on Thursday.

Julie Rodriguez and Sally Robertson won No. 1 doubles and Dee Dee Seaman and Amanda Smay earned a win at No. 2 doubles for Wesleyan (2-4). Vani Crist won No. 1 singles and Christy North won No. 2 singles for Providence (7-2).

GIRLS LACROSSE

ROME — Wesleyan defeated Darlington 19-9 on Thursday.

Courtney Batchelor led with six goals while Courtney O’Leary and Lindsay Moore each scored four goals for the Wolves (4-1).

Duluth 3, West Forsyth 0

CUMMING — Edwin Romero led with two goals while Max Meehan added one to help Duluth (5-2) shut out West Forsyth 3-0 Thursday.

GIRLS SOCCER

Duluth 1, West Forsyth 0

CUMMING — Duluth’s Tamaya Tompoe scored one goal with an assist from Besty Zuiga to earn the 1-0 win against West Forsyth on Thursday.

Duluth improves to 5-0-1.

Mountain View 4, Clarke Central 0

LAWRENCEVILLE — Mountain View shut out Clarke Central 4-0 on Tuesday.

Sarah Weber led Mountain View with two goals, while Magaly Gutierrez and Shelby Gray each added a goal for Mountain View. Gutierrez and Kate Darby split in goal for Mountain View (2-4-1).

Hebron beats Dacula

DACULA — Hebron beat Dacula 91-101 at the Trophy Club on Thursday.

Darby Gentry was the low scorer with a 41 for Hebron.
