PREP ROUNDUP: Parkview falls to No. 1 team in nation

VALDOSTA — Parkview committed six errors Saturday in its 11-1 loss to Gulliver Prep (Miami, Fla.), ranked by some media outlets as the No. 1 baseball team in the nation. The game was part of the Georgia-Florida challenge.

Losing pitcher Matt Olson (0-1) allowed eight runs, four earned, in three innings. Jeff Ronpirin went 2-for-2 with the Panthers (2-2) only RBI.

BASEBALL

Central 5, Apalachee 3 (Friday)

LAWRENCEVILLE — Dustin Hayes struck out five in 61⁄3 innings to lead Central Gwinnett to a 5-3 win over Apalachee Friday. C.J. Cronic got the save for the Black Knights (4-1). Drillon Mackel went 1-for-3 with two RBIs. Cody De La Paz was 2-for-3.

BOYS GOLF

Peachtree Ridge wins Apple Mountain Invitational

CLARKESVILLE — Victor Choi shot a 70 to lead Peachtree Ridge to its win at the Apple Mountain Invitational Saturday. The Lions finished with a score of 301 at Apple Mountain Golf Club. Choi was low medalist, while Teahyung Kim shot 74 to finish in the top 10.

Greater Atlanta Christian took third with a score of 301, one shot behind Lambert. GAC’s Austin Stevens took second with a 71.

GIRLS SOCCER

Dacula 2, Tift Co. 0

TIFTON — Dacula blanked Tift County 2-0 Saturday. Ruva Chimeda and Amanda Kent each scored a goal for the Falcons. Valeria Bermeo and Tola Akinsanya each added an assist.

BOYS SOCCER

Dacula 3, Tift Co. 0

TIFTON — Dacula shut out Tift County 3-0 Saturday. Nick Sibert, Christian Rivas, and Caleb Martin each scored a goal for the Falcons (4-1-1).

GIRLS LACROSSE

North wins two at GAC tourney

NORCROSS — North Gwinnett beat Greenbrier and Tri-Cities to take the consolation pool at the Lady Spartans Shootout Saturday. The Bulldogs (4-4) beat Greenbrier 9-7, getting four goals from Ashleigh Clark. Kylee Thurman added two goals, two assists and picked up six ground balls. Lauren Aycock finished with three goals. Mehndi Patel made 14 saves.

North easily beat Tri-Cities 11-1 in the other game. Clark again scored four goals and was named to the All-Tournament Team. Aycock scored three goals in this game as well, while Katie Verret added two.
