LILBURN — There will be a new No. 1 in Class A after No. 4 Providence knocked off top-ranked Pace Academy 2-1 in boys soccer Thursday.
The Knights took the lead in the 15th minute with a goal off a free kick. The Stars’ (3-2) answer came with seven minutes left in the first half when Ted Perry headed in a throw-in from Brent Hansen. Hansen would net the game winner in the second half when he pressured a defensive player’s pass back to the Pace goalie, recovered the loose ball and put it in.
Providence keeper Evan Flowers made nine saves, including a clutch block in the final seconds.
Mill Creek 3, Hebron 0
HOSCHTON — Taylor Scalera scored two goals to lead Mill Creek to a 3-0 win over Hebron on Thursday. Tyler Moody added a goal for the Hawks (4-1-1). Zach Murk, Nick Muntean and Austin Butler each had an assist. Steven Arroyave and Conner Buckley combined to make five saves in the shutout.

HOSCHTON — Tatum O’Keefe scored two goals as Mill Creek beat Hebron 7-0 Tuesday. Lauren Tanner, Amanda Troy, Lora Bruce, Courtney Dobeck and Lindsay Kempf each added goals for the Hawks (6-0). Taylor Cornelius and Courtney Emmert combined on the shutout.
Providence 3, Pace 1
LILBURN — Providence moved its record back over the .500 mark with a 3-1 win over Pace Academy on Thursday. Brooke Kelly and Kenzie Gray each scored goals for the Stars (3-2). The third tally came on a Pace own goal.
Dacula 4, South 1
DACULA — Dacula swept the singles matches on its way to a 4-1 win over South Gwinnett on Thursday. Nicki Neal, Mary Moore and Catherine Fernandez won their matches for the Falcons (3-5). Shannon Slovensky and Elizabeth Bennett earned a point at No. 1 doubles.
GAC 5, Decatur 0
NORCROSS — Greater Atlanta Christian swept Decatur 5-0 Thursday. Julia Bryan, Ann Puntkattalee and Stephanie Collins handled the singles matches for the Spartans (2-1). Carri Hobbs and Jenny Armstrong won at No. 1 doubles, as did the No. 2 pair of Kathryn Osbon and Emma Deal.
Berkmar 4, Shiloh 1
SNELLVILLE — Berkmar swept the doubles matches in a 4-1 win over Shiloh on Thursday. Rebekah Wise and Elana Do won at No. 1 doubles, along with the No. 2 team of Jenny Wong and Serena Kurina. Lan Tran and Dalena Nguyen won singles matches for the Patriots (4-3).
Archer 5, Central 0
LAWRENCEVILLE — Archer won its second straight in Region 8-AAAAA game with a 5-0 sweep of Central Gwinnett on Thursday at Rhodes Jordan Park.
Sydnie Madison, Casey Cowens and Kimberly Anderson earned singles points for the Tigers (8-5, 2-0). Kaitlyn Balsadmides and Lauren Dalton won at No. 1 singles, as did the No. 2 pair of Morgan McCalla and Harper Emery.
North 3, Northview 2
SUWANEE — North Gwinnett is still unbeaten after a 3-2 win over Northview on Thursday. Shannon Bettiol and Taylor Clark won singles matches for the Bulldogs (4-0). Chelsea Koch and Isabel Balsavage won their doubles match.
Collins Hill 4, Wesleyan 1
LAWRENCEVILLE — Collins Hill moved to 7-0 with a 4-1 win over Wesleyan on Thursday at Collins Hill Athletic Club. The Eagles picked up doubles points from the teams of Cassie and Maddie Owensby, along with Lina Tibavinsky and Ashley Johnston. Erin Ensley and Abbie Wehr won singles matches.
Megan Kelly earned the Wolves (0-4) point at No. 1 singles.

DACULA — Hebron knocked off Commerce 4-1 Thursday for its first win of the season. Michelle Kniffen, Laura McLear and Ashley Whitten won the singles matches for the Lions (1-2). Anneliese Vorpahl and Mini Schulte won at No. 1 doubles.

SNELLVILLE — Brookwood won its second straight in Region 8-AAAAA with a 4-1 win over Parkview on Thursday. Keelie Denson and Gabbie Griffith won singles matches for the Broncos (2-3, 2-0). Molly McClintock and Katie Hedlund earned a point at No. 1 doubles as did the No. 2 team of Sheridan Schuster and Liz Slaughter.

NORCROSS — Greater Atlanta Christian remained unbeaten with a 4-1 win over Decatur on Thursday. Hunter Ragland and Andrew Kim won singles matches for the Spartans (3-0). Also winning were the doubles teams of Jake Montgomery and Alex Soh and Joshua Mitchell and Daniel Ray.

DACULA — Dacula won its second straight Region 8-AAAAA match with a 5-0 victory over South Gwinnett on Thursday. Matt Nelson, Caleb Barth and James O’Leary handled the singles matches for the Falcons (3-4, 2-0). Joel Salazar and David Anderson won at No. 1 doubles, while Zak Germaine and Spencer Richardson took care of No. 2 doubles.

LAWRENCEVILLE — Central Gwinnett moved to 2-0 in Region 8-AAAAA with a 3-2 win over Archer. Chris Morrison and Tyler Nguyen won at No. 1 doubles for the Black Knights. So did the No. 2 team of Aaron Miller and Tony Nguyen. Dongsin Kang won at No. 3 singles.

BRASELTON — Dacula beat Winder-Barrow 106-116 Thursday at Chateau Elan to remain unbeaten. Kady Clark and Kristen Nowell each shot a 53 for the Falcons (3-0).

DULUTH — North Gwinnett took care of Norcross 97-121 Thursday at Berkeley Hills Country Club. Jessica Choi shot a 46 to lead the Bulldogs. Alex Hudson added a 51. Camille Streeter shot a 60 for the Blue Devils (1-1).
Collins Hill holds off Duluth
SUWANEE — Justin Cho fired a 34, but it was not enough as Collins Hill beat Duluth 170-190. Chris Rajek had the low round for the Eagles with a 40.

HOSCHTON — Buford lost to Flowery Branch 161-179 Thursday at Reunion Golf Club. Lucas Thompson shot a 43 for the Wolves (2-1).

DULUTH — Jason Mendel fired an even-par round of 36 to lead Norcross over North Gwinnett 155-171 Thursday at Berkeley Hills Country Club. Clay Trocchio added a 38 for the Blue Devils (2-0). Bailey Ulp shot a 39 for the Bulldogs.

BRASELTON — Dacula beat Winder-Barrow 171-191 Thursday at Chateau Elan. Brad Stevens and James McMillian each shot a 41 to lead the Falcons (2-0).
Peachtree Ridge 6, West Forsyth 0
SUWANEE — Jared Walsh struck out 13 batters and allowed one hit in six innings as Peachtree Ridge beat West Forsyth 6-0 Thursday. Walsh (1-1) didn’t walk a batter and went 1-for-2 at the plate with two RBIs. Donald Frew struck out the side in the seventh to finish off the shutout for the Lions (2-2).
Steven Bowman (2-for-3) scored twice. Brian Hanberry (2-for-3) and Brett Polachek each drove in a run.
North 8, Parkview 7
LILBURN — Ashleigh Clark scored five goals as North Gwinnett held off Parkview 8-7 Thursday. Lauren Aycock added two goals for the Bulldogs (4-2). Mehndi Patel made 12 saves. Kelly Spevacek and Juliet Tang each scored twice for the Panthers (1-4). Parkview goalie Lisa McManus made eight saves.

LILBURN — North Gwinnett squeaked by Parkview 10-9 Thursday. Matt Palmer, Blaine Tiller and Adam Printz each scored two goals for the Bulldogs (1-2). Ronnie Adams had four assists. Cooper Heeren made 12 saves.
Paul Vance scored foul goals for the Panthers (0-4). Conner Kim added three goals.
