Legendary Air Force football coach Fisher DeBerry will be the keynote speaker at the Fellowship of Christian Athletes Gwinnett’s annual awards banquet March 17. The event is at 7 p.m. at North Metro Baptist Church in Lawrenceville.
DeBerry won a school-best 169 games in 22 years as Air Force’s coach, earning 12 bowl bids before his retirement in 2006. “Throughout Coach DeBerry’s career, he exemplified the FCA cornerstone values, integrity, serving, teamwork and excellence,” FCA Gwinnett director Bill Dando said. “He’s long been active in the FCA, and in fact, in 2005, the FCA inducted Coach DeBerry into our organization’s national Hall of Champions.” The FCA banquet also will honor Gwinnett high school athletes, cheerleaders and coaches for leadership and contributions to their respective schools. It kicks off with a 6 p.m. silent auction. Tickets to the event are $75 each and corporate sponsorships also are available. For more information, go to www.fcagwinnett.org.
