Lawrenceville's Andy Shim was low medalist and Duluth's Preston Heyward also earned one of the five tournament slots into the U.S. Junior Amateur Championship, which held qualifying Monday at Marietta Country Club.

Shim was the top golfer in the field after rounds of 70 and 69, edging Augusta's Greyson Sigg (71-69) by a stroke for low medalist. His up-and-down day included eight birdies and seven bogeys.

Heyward (73-68) was part of a four-person playoff of golfers finishing at 141 and he locked up the fourth position after the first extra hole. The other three golfers played on until Acworth's Michael Hines (70-71) got the fifth and final spot on the third playoff hole.

Jake Marriott of Springfield, Ill., (68-72) also made the amateur field.
