LAWRENCEVILLE — Lawrenceville will host Shawn Mullins on Friday for his seventh return to the 2011 Hayes Family Dealerships Moonlight and Music Concert Series, the Lawrenceville Tourism and Trade Association announced.
The Grammy-nominated singer and songwriter will perform at 8 p.m. Friday on the lawn of the Gwinnett Historic Courthouse in downtown Lawrenceville.
Mullins, an Atlanta-based artist, is a multi-instrumentalist whose songs are a blend of folk, blues, country and rock. His well-known song “Lullaby” reached No. 1 on the national pop chart.
The concerts are free outdoor lawn events, and attendees are encouraged to bring a picnic dinner or visit one of the restaurants on the downtown square for catering or take-out packages.
Animal rescue hold fundraiser
BUFORD — Companion Animal Rescue League and Planned PEThood of Georgia are joining together to raise funds to sponsor more than 100 cats and kittens in their care awaiting adoption.
The groups will host the Kitten Bowl from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday at Oasis Bowl, 1601 Horizon Parkway, off of Satellite Boulevard near Ga. Highway 20 in Buford.
A donation of $20 per ticket will include four games of bowling, two pairs of rental shoes and an entry into the grand prize drawing. For every ticket purchased, $10 will be donated to CARL and PPOG.
Tickets must be purchased in advance and are available online at www.carl.petfinder.com and www.plannedpethoodga.com.
In addition to the bowling fundraiser, the organizations will be offering rescued kittens for adoptions. Tickets do not have to be purchased to view and adopt available kittens. All animals will be spayed or neutered, microchipped and up to date with their shots. The adoption fee is $120 for one kitten or $200 for two.
