NORCROSS — Police are continuing their investigation of an apparent murder-suicide near Norcross.
Just before 9 p.m. Saturday, Gwinnett County police received a 911 call regarding a potential shooting at 6130 Zachary Drive. Upon arrival, they met with a family member who reported that 46-year-old Shan Chun Yu was sitting at his computer when his wife shot him once in the head. The wife, 35-year-old Hyun “Mickey” Ok Yu, then turned the weapon on herself, police spokesman Cpl. Edwin Ritter said Monday. “Mr. Yu was dead on scene and Mrs. Yu was transported to Gwinnett Medical Center for treatment, where she died on arrival from a gunshot wound to her head,” Ritter said. Investigators were still trying Monday to piece together a motive for the incident, Ritter said. Ritter said there was no record of police ever being called to the Zachary Drive home prior to Saturday’s shooting. The family member who reported the incident, a 20-year-old woman, provided “no indication” of events that may have led to the fatal encounter, he said.More like this story
