LAWRENCEVILLE -- Evening thunder showers toppled trees and caused several small house fires.
The storms caused damage throughout Gwinnett -- from Buford to Snellville.
According to Gwinnett County Fire Department spokesman Capt. Thomas Rutledge, by 6:42 p.m. Saturday trees fell, blocking traffic on Bogan Road and East Shadburn Ferry in Buford, South Berkeley Lake Road in Duluth and Highpoint Road in Snellville. Three more fell on houses -- on Cardinal Lake Drive in Duluth, on Timber Oak Cove in Lawrenceville and on His Way in Lawrenceville.
The fire department also reported possible lightning strikes to houses on Cobble Creek Lane in Grayson, Norton Estates Circle in Snellville and Stewart Ridge Walk in Buford. No injuries were reported at any of the incidents, and the only damage caused by fire was to the Grayson home.
