LAWRENCEVILLE -- A 53-year-old Norcross man was killed during a Friday morning car accident in southern Forsyth County.
According to Forsyth officials, Michael Stanley Carter was driving his Honda Accord northbound on Ga. Highway 9 when he "apparently ran the traffic light" at the intersection with Pendley Road.
Carter struck a Mitsubishi SUV turning onto the highway at about 6:45 a.m., and was pronounced dead at the scene, Forsyth sheriff's department spokeswoman Karleen Chalker said. Responding officers noted that Carter was not wearing a seatbelt.
Alcohol, drugs or excessive speed are not considered factors in the collision, Chalker said.
The driver of the second car, a 48-year-old Cumming woman, was taken to North Fulton Hospital and treated for minor injuries.
The accident remains under investigation, Chalker said.
