Gwinnett junior golfers Benjamin Shipp and Chris Rajek had first-place finishes at this week's Summer Kickoff at Whitewater Creek, a Hurricane Junior Golf Tour event in Fayetteville.
Shipp, a Duluth resident, shot 74 and 70 to win the boys 13- to 14-year-old division and overall titles. Rajek of Suwanee shot 77-76 to win the boys 15-19 division.
Duluth's Michael Collins (82-83) was fourth in boys 13-14 while Dacula's Rasanna Kumar (sixth), Dacula's Nicolas Scott (seventh) and Buford's Clay Dickie (ninth) also were in the top 10. Dacula's Dylan Pence tied for 13th in boys 15-19 while Lawrenceville's Jordan Krahn (seventh) and Dacula's Kiersten Nowell (eighth) had high finishes in girls 14-18.
