G-Braves to give away Coolray Field stadium replica
LAWRENCEVILLE — The first 2,500 fans at the Gwinnett Braves game on Saturday will receive a Coolray Field Stadium Replica, courtesy of Coolray Heating and Cooling.
The G-Braves face the Durham Bulls at 7:05 p.m. Saturday.
The team is also hosting its first Juneteenth celebration as part of its Heritage Nights taking place this summer. Juneteenth is the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the end of slavery in the United States. Festivities begin at 3 p.m.
The G-Braves are the Triple-A affiliate of the Atlanta Braves. All Gwinnett Braves ticket packages and individual tickets are available at gwinnettbraves.com, the Coolray Field Box Office or by calling 678-277-0340.
Chiles to headline stand-up comedy event
LAWRENCEVILLE — Marshall Chiles, an Atlanta native with roots in Gwinnett, will headline “It’s Always Funny in Gwinnett,” a live stand-up comedy show at 8 p.m. Friday at Dave and Buster’s at Discover Mills in Lawrenceville.
Chiles’ shows combine his well-tested jokes, stream of consciousness comedy and crowd work. He shared the stage on the “Comedy Central Live” tour featuring Mitch Hedberg, Lewis Black and Dave Attell, and he also made it to the second round of auditions for NBC’s “Last Comic Standing.”
This week’s show also features Atlanta comedy favorite Jamie Ward.
The show costs $10 for general admission or $20 for VIP admission, which includes a seat at a table in the VIP section and a $10 Dave and Buster’s game card.

Organization hosts World Sickle Cell Day event
ATLANTA — SCD Soldier Network is hosting an event Saturday in honor of World Sickle Cell Day for residents of metro Atlanta.
The event, scheduled from 4 to 5 p.m., will feature a presentation, bone marrow drive and memorial balloon release to pay tribute to those who have lost their battle with sickle cell.
The event will take place at the APEX Museum, 135 Auburn Ave., Atlanta.

Blockbuster rewards good grades with movie rentals
LAWRENCEVILLE — Children in kindergarten through 12th grade who earn a B average or better on their report cards can head to participating Blockbuster stores to receive a free, one-day, non-new release movie rental.
Qualifying students are eligible each grading period for one free rental in DVD format.
To participate, students can bring their original report card to any participating store across the country. The report card must be from the 2011 school year, show a B average grade or better, be signed by a parent or legal guardian and be presented within 30 days of issuance of the report card.
Rentals must be made by an authorized renter on the Blockbuster account of the student’s parent or legal guardian.
