BUFORD -- A 54-year-old woman died Friday night after the car she was driving slipped off Interstate 85 near Buford, police said.
The one-car accident happened about 10:20 p.m. between Ga. Highway 20 and Hamilton Mill Road. Police had not released the victim's name Saturday, pending notification of her next of kin, said Gwinnett police spokesman Cpl. Jennifer Roberts.
Roberts said the driver left the roadway and veered into the median for unknown reasons.
"When the driver attempted to reenter the roadway, she lost control of the vehicle, which then overturned," Roberts said.
Roberts said alcohol was not a factor in the accident. An investigation continues.
