INDIANAPOLIS — The Gwinnett Braves’ seven-game winning streak came to an end with a 1-0 loss to the Indianapolis Indians on Saturday night at Victory Field.
Indians’ Matt Hague singled to right with runners on first and third and one out in the bottom of the ninth. It scored Alex Presley, who led off the inning with a single. Yohan Flande started the game and had his best performance of the year with just two hits and no runs allowed. He struck out five and walked two in six innings. Corey Gearrin, just sent down from Atlanta, worked a scoreless seventh and eighth. Anthony Varvaro (1-6) worked the ninth and took the loss. The G-Braves mustered just four hits on the night and left 10 batters on base. Gwinnett and Indianapolis play again at 2 p.m. today at Victory Field. RHP Erik Cordier (1-1, 1.62) will start for Gwinnett. RHP Justin Wilson (7-3, 3.49) to start for the Indians. Fans can catch the game on WDUN 550-AM/102.9-FM.More like this story
