BUFORD -- Gwinnett police arrested two suspected meth traffickers from South Carolina this week after they cut off a semi driver on Interstate 85 near Buford, officials said.
Joshua Peace, 23, and Michael Duncan, 46, both of Anderson, S.C., are charged with trafficking methamphetamine.
An officer patrolling I-85 near Hamilton Mill Road witnessed the 1992 Honda Accord Duncan was driving cut off a semi-tractor about 9 a.m. Thursday and pulled the car over, according to a police report.
Both men claimed they had come to Atlanta to visit Peace's brother in federal prison, and both were shaking visibly, an officer wrote.
Duncan consented to a vehicle search, the report states, and police found a large sandwich bag containing about one pound of meth beneath the driver's seat. Peace then confessed he'd purchased the drugs for $18,000 off the Sugarloaf Parkway interstate exit, the report says.
Duncan denied knowledge of the drugs but carried nearly $2,500 in his wallet, the report says.
Peace and Duncan remain at the Gwinnett County Jail without bond.
