WINDER -- Barrow County authorities arrested a 50-year-old Marietta man who allegedly prowled the Internet hoping for a rendezvous with an underage girl.
James Christopher Redman had inappropriate Internet chats with an undercover investigator who he thought was an underage girl and arranged to meet Wednesday, said Barrow County Sheriff's Office spokesman Sgt. Ryan Sears.
Deputies with the Barrow County crime task force and Statham police apprehended Redman as he arrived at the undisclosed location in Barrow County.
"It's imperative that parents monitor the use of computers by their children to include social networking sites and histories of sites visited," Sheriff Jud Smith said in light of the arrest.
Sears would not disclose which social network or website Redman was allegedly using.
Redman has been charged with one count each of enticing a child for indecent purposes and criminal attempt to commit child molestation. He also faces five counts stemming from the Computer or Electronic Pornography and Child Exploitation Prevention Act, Sears said.
