  • Location: Sara Donuts is located off Larenceville-Suwanee road in the Shawnee Ridge plaza amongst stores such as Atlanta Bread Company and T-Mobile.

  • Hours: The store is open between the hours of 5 a.m. and 2 p.m. Monday through Saturday and is closed on Sunday.

  • Owner: Korean natives Sara Park and husband Jongwon Park never thought that they would own a doughnut business when they moved to the United States. For more than 20 years they owned multiple doughnut shops when they resided in Texas but decided to branch out their business in Georgia to be closer to family. They now have two franchises in Georgia, in Suwanee and Duluth and are working on opening another on Jimmy Carter Boulevard in September.

  • Atmosphere: When you walk into Sara Donuts, you're instantly hit by the mouth-watering scents of freshly made doughnuts. The shop has a simple but comfortable aura with cool shades of pink on the walls, decorated with colorful custom-made posters of the doughnuts they sell.

Upon entering the shop, doughnuts and sausage rolls are displayed in a large glass showcase and to the left of the shop is a self-serve coffee bar with a variety of of flavored Paul Delima coffee and a machine that serves cappacino and hot chocolate. For a cold drinks, customers can choose from a selection of energy drinks, fruit drinks, or sodas.

  • Menu: Doughnuts are the main dish at this shop and they range from your typical glazed doughnut to the gourmet red velvet doughnut. The owners said that customers have complimented them on the doughnuts they make as they are hand-made every morning and another fresh batch is made every sixth hour each day. The most popular are the Apple Fritter and Sour Cream. They try to change the style of the doughnuts depending on the season or occasion. Early this year they featured a Valentine's Day doughnut and hope to continue that tradition every year. Not only do they make specialized doughnuts, but breakfast rolls as well -- sausage and jalapeno sausage.

  • Things you might not know: Along with the three franchises that are located here in Georgia there are also 13 branches in Texas, the owners of Sara Donuts along with other family members in Texas have 16 doughnut shops that they have made into a family business.
