DACULA -- A Saturday afternoon fire caused extensive damage to a pair of Dacula businesses, officials said.
Gwinnett County firefighters responded to the converted duplex on the 30 block of Dacula Road at 2 p.m., finding heavy smoke showing from the building that housed both Imagine Gift Shop and Lily's Boutiques and Consignment, spokesman Lt. Eric Eberly said.
After responding to the call from the stores' owner, emergency crews made immediate entry and "encountered dense smoke and moderate fire conditions" on the inside, Eberly said.
A search for potential victims inside complete and unfruitful, the blaze was brought under control in a little more than 30 minutes. The businesses, which were open at the time of the fire, sustained extensive damage inside and moderate damage to the exterior, Eberly said.
The cause of the fire remained undetermined and under investigation Saturday evening, Eberly said. No injuries were reported.
