WINDER -- Police are searching for a knife-wielding robber who hit a KFC restaurant at 180 W. Athens St. in Winder last week.

The suspect brandished the knife and pushed an employee into an office about 10:30 p.m. on May 25, police said.

"He then cut the store phone line and took the employee's cell phone and left the building," said Winder police spokesman Officer Chris Cooper.

The suspect left with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Police describe the suspect, captured on video surveillance, as a black man in his early to mid-30s, about 6 feet tall with a thin build. He wore dark clothing and sunglasses during the robbery, and may also walk with a slight limp, Cooper said.

Authorities urge anyone with information in the case to contact Winder police Lt. John Blocker at 770-867-2156, or to go online to www.cityofwinder.com and submit an anonymous tip.
