ATLANTA -- Monty Python's "Spamalot," the Tony-Award-Winning musical comedy spun off from "Monty Python and the Holy Grail," returns to the Fox Theatre this weekend for five performances only. This weekend from Friday through Sunday audiences will be treated to the legendary (and in this case, silly) tale of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table.

The comedic timing, clever humor and silly take on the revered English legend have won over audiences across the country. Director Mike Nichols has done an excellent job of blending skillful choreography, slapstick, raucous comedy and over-the-top characters into a delightful masterpiece in the Monty Python tradition. Nichols has been hailed as one of the country's most talented directors in theater, television and film.

From the belly laughs, to the whimsical costumes, to the astonishingly talented cast, Spamalot is pure lighthearted-entertainment. Even the sets of cleverly communicate with the audience, adding another engaging dimension to the production. Information actually scrolls or erases throughout the musical, keeping the audience involved and entertained.

Cast standouts abound, also. Jacob L. Smith as Sir Dennis Galahad is funny and talented, offering a superb singing voice to boot. Caroline Bowman, another breathtakingly beautiful voice, also enjoys the role of one of the funniest characters in the production. In one song, "The Diva's Lament," the character actually complains about not having enough stage time in Spamalot.

While there is not an abundance of plot in the musical, the spectacle, humor and choreography make Spamalot a must-see for Monty Python fans, or for anyone who enjoys light-hearted and silly (but clever) humor.
