LAWRENCEVILLE -- Aurora Theatre is presenting a stand-up comedy show called "The Muslims Are Coming!" for free on at 8 p.m. Aug. 9.
The show features Muslim-American comedians who are on tour to correct any misconceptions Americans may have about the Muslim community.
Co-producers and comedians Negin Farsad and Dean Obeidallah will headline each show, but they have brought some friends along for the Lawrenceville performance: Maysoon Zayid, Omar Elba, and Atlanta's own Gilbert Lawand.
"Our hope is to use the stand-up comedy to bring people of all faiths and backgrounds together to laugh and to foster understanding," Obeidallah said.
In each city of the tour, the group will set up a booth called "Ask a Muslim" during the daytime and conduct an informal Q&A at the end of the show.
The performance will be recorded and segments may be used in the documentary titled "The Muslims are Coming!"
Tickets are free, but need to be reserved. There is only room for about 100 people. The show is targeted toward adults.
