NORCROSS — Gwinnett County fire investigators have arrested a Macon woman accused of setting fire to a pair of Norcross businesses.
With assistance from the U.S. Marshals, fire investigators traveled to Macon on Thursday and arrested 48-year-old Barbara Ann Stevenson, fire department spokesman Capt. Tommy Rutledge said. Stevenson was stopped as she returned to her apartment and ultimately charged with two counts of first-degree arson, two counts of terroristic threats and acts and one count of criminal trespass, Rutledge said. The charges stem from what officials say Stevenson did the weekend of May 6. According to investigators, Stevenson intentionally set fire to the entrances of two separate businesses in a strip mall on Avalon Ridge Parkway in Norcross. The fires, Rutledge said, “caused damage to the exterior of both businesses but did not spread any further before going out.” Employees discovered the damage the following Monday. Fire officials have not released specific information about the fires or a potential motive in the case. Gwinnett County Jail records show Stevenson is being held without bond.More like this story
