WINDER -- A Winder mother was last heard from Wednesday, when a family member received a cryptic text message from her cellphone. A niece found her abandoned vehicle at a local library hours later, police said.
Winder police asked for public tips Thursday in their search for Tonya Faye Lynn, 38. Employed by Athens Regional Medical Center, Lynn is married with four children, said Winder Police Department spokesman Officer Chris Cooper.
Early Wednesday, Lynn's niece received a text message from Lynn's phone requesting the niece take care of Lynn's children.
"The phone was turned off when the niece tried to call back, immediately after receiving the text," Cooper said.
The niece discovered Lynn's vehicle about noon at a library near Lynn's home, and reported her missing, Cooper said.
Lynn failed to report to work Wednesday morning. She was last seen by a neighbor at her residence about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, Cooper said.
Police were speaking with friends and family Thursday to gather more information.
Police urge anyone with information regarding Tonya Faye Lynn's whereabouts to call Detective Rachel Love, Winder Police Department, at 770-867-2156.
