Gwinnett County Public School officials voted Thursday night to name an interim leader for Meadowcreek High School.
The school’s principal, Ladeadrick “Bob” Jackson, passed away Monday after suffering a ruptured heart. Assistant Principal Tommy Welch was unanimously approved by the board as interim principal of the school at the recommendation of the system’s superintendent. Jackson, 51, who led the school for the past five years, became ill at the school Monday and collapsed, according to a spokesman with the system. He died at the school as a result of a ruptured aortic dissection, according to the Gwinnett County Medical Examiner’s Office. More than 400 students, teachers, friends and family showed up Tuesday to pay tribute to Jackson at the high school. Jackson’s interim replacement has served at Meadowcreek High School as assistant principal since 2006. Prior to that, he was a social studies teacher there.More like this story
