ATLANTA -- Braves catcher Brian McCann strained his left oblique, forcing him out of Tuesday night's game against the Pittsburgh Pirates, and he will be placed on the 15-day disabled list on Wednesday.
McCann grabbed his left side and lower back in obvious pain after he threw high as Neil Walker stole second base in the 10th inning.
David Ross replaced McCann in the game after trainer Jeff Porter came on the field to confer with McCann. McCann made a couple of test throws to pitcher Scott Linebrink before leaving the game.
The Braves have not announced a replacement for McCann on the roster.
