Back-to-school bash planned

BUFORD — Georgia 4-H, Healthy Rocks and Radio Disney have scheduled a back-to-school event for 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at Mall of Georgia.

The gathering features games, contests and prizes as well as information and activities that promote healthy living.

In addition, guests can stick around after the event to watch the final Movies Under the Stars of the summer.

Live music by Chico and the Band Begins at 6:30 p.m., followed by “Yogi Bear” at dusk in the Village Amphitheater. Lawn chairs and blankets are welcome.

Mission offers school supplies

DULUTH — Atlanta Mission thrift ministry has scheduled an event Saturday that offers free back-to-school supplies to provide relief to local families.

Customers can pick up free school supplies, while searching for used clothing, shoes and other back-to-school needs.

All proceeds benefit programs and services for homeless men, women and children including emergency shelter, job attainment, long-term residential discipleship and transitional housing.

Formerly known as Atlanta Union Mission, the organization is Atlanta’s longest operating provider of programs and services.

Established in 1938, Atlanta Mission serves an average of 950 homeless people daily at 11 ministry centers across metro Atlanta and Northeast Georgia.
