NORCROSS -- Police are investigating the apparent homicide of a 46-year-old resident of a Norcross apartment complex.
Gwinnett County police reported to the Harbins Springs Apartments on Twin Springs Trail at about 8:15 a.m. Monday. A maintenance worker at the complex near the intersection of Harbins and Williams roads discovered the body of Timothy Lance Kemp earlier in the morning, police spokesman Cpl. Edwin Ritter said.
Kemp's death is believed to be the result of a gunshot wound, Ritter said.
Much of the complex's 100 building and the nearby pool and clubhouse areas were taped off into the afternoon Monday. Investigators interviewed residents and used a metal detector in the grassy area at the front of the complex.
No further information had been released as of Monday afternoon.
"Investigators continue to follow up on all leads," Ritter said. "Additional information is unavailable at this time as it may compromise the investigation if released."
