Tractor trailer catches fire, destroys car
A passerby reported a lunchtime fire aboard a tractor trailer hauling multiple cars, officials said.
Gwinnett County firefighters responded to Satellite Pointe off Satellite Boulevard in Duluth just before noon Monday, finding a fire burning on the rear of a tractor trailer, spokesman Capt. Tommy Rutledge said.
"The driver of the truck had parked their temporarily and and was doing some mechanical work on the hauler," Rutledge said. "He had left the hauler and was not there at the time of the fire."
A 2009 Honda Accord being carried by the vehicle was destroyed, and another car received "little"exposure damage, Rutledge said.
The cause of the blaze remained undetermined and under investigation Monday, though Rutledge said the fire appeared to have started from the Honda Accord.
Fire destroys vacant trailer
A Sunday evening fire completely destroyed an unoccupied double-wide trailer, officials said.
Firefighters responded to the scene on the 1400 block of Leach Road in Lawrenceville at about 6 p.m. Sunday, finding the uninhabited trailer "fully engulfed in flames," fire department spokesman Lt. Eric Eberly said.
The structure has been ruled a total loss, but "the quick actions of firefighters kept the blaze from spreading to a nearby neighborhood," Eberly said.
No injuries were reported. The cause remains undetermined and under investigation.
